Minutes of the Lake Stevens Downtown Association of 5/7/2008

  • Order of Business:
  1. Kathleen Friend brought a card for the Family of Bill Clough who passed away earlier this week. Everyone present signed and the card was made available to non present members later in the day. Donations were collected to be given to the family.
  2. Farmer’s Market begins 6/5/08 and continues until 8/28/08. Molly expressed concerns over the set up specifications and coordination with the Music on the Lake and remedies were explored; a) pay the police cadets, b) use volunteers to direct vendors and musicians to their spots.
  3. Kelly Dubyne of Mt Pilchuck PTA spoke about the renovation project and the opportunity for individuals and businesses to sponsor a brick to be placed in the pavement in front of the school. Money collected from this project will go to Technology. Pamphlets for the businesses were distributed to those present.
  4. Marcy spoke about the Downtown co-op ad in the Lake Stevens Journal. Next ad will come out Wed, June 4th. New ideas for ad presentation were also discussed.
  5. Lion’s Club will have their 2nd annual Fishing Derby on Sat June 7th @ Lake Stevens.
  6. Greg’s Custom Rods will again sponsor with the Lake Stevens Family Center the kids Wednesday fishing days in July. July2,9,23,30. we will not be able to do it on the 16th. Time 10–11am @ North Cove Dock.
  7. Dr. Fred mentioned he had a version of Quick Books that he could donate to the treasurer to aid in the billing for the association.
  8. B C Mc Donald’s Pub has closed. The business is for sale.
  9. Subway seems to be moving along, no opening date yet.
  10. The Mexican restaurant is moving along, but no opening date yet.
  11. Kathleen Friend from the Family center spoke about upcoming events:
    1. May 13th: Lake Stevens Chamber Mixer / Community Service awards / community partner recognition night is Tuesday, May 13th 5–6:30pm @ the Family Center.
    2. June 6th: Open Mike night
    3. July 25–27th: Aquafest
    4. August 5th: National night out.
    5. Sunday before school starts is Back to School Bonanza
  12. Dr Fred spoke about Hot Spot Advertising.
  13. Sat May 17th The Bridge Church will have a garage sale to benefit the American Cancer Society @ the Bridge Church facility in Snohomish.
  14. May 17th is Lake Stevens Clean Up Day.
  15. Ideas for a membership drive were discussed.
  16. Possible chamber mixer @ Buzz Inn, but no date decided.
