MINUTES FROM THE DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION MEETING - MARCH 13, 2008
- In attendance: Dr. Fred - Lake Stevens Dental, Kathleen Friend - Family Center, Marcey Rockenbach - Greg’s Custom Fishing, Becky Schnurstein - Farmers Market, Joyce Bell - Bell Properties, Heather Colman - Council person, Jennie Fenrich - Main Street Coffee, Diana Jackson - Edward Jones, Dawn Clark - Edward Jones
Updates!!! New Information:
- Congrats to Steve Ibling who is getting married this weekend!
- MEETING DATE HAS CHANGED to the first Wednesday each month at 8:00 AM at the Buzz Inn.
- Subway will be opening in 3 months, their sign is already up
- Mexican Restaurant going in next to Greg’s Custom Fishing
- Tagging has become a large issue, keep your eyes open and if you see it call the Police 425–334–9537 to report. They will have an officer come out to take pictures and to also fill out a report.
- Dr Fred HOT SPOT - Wi Fyi presentation:
- $150 package will cover 900 feet - 1 time charge to get it up and running.
- The service will be set up to be free for a set amount of time for users so people don’t just “park” and plug up the “pipe” - there will be an option for the user to purchase a pass to extend their time.
- Also have the ability to advertise on POP UPs
- Heather will discuss w/Mayor - City wide - see clearwire
Follow up:
- Molly please mail copy of updated emails to doctor Fred to do our reminder emails and other correspondence. Also submit agenda to include with reminder emails.
- Molly please include in the meeting information about the directional signs for services offered downtown on HWY 92: how much space is available, what is the cost of sign, and what is the yearly maintenance fee.
- Meeting change to the first Wednesday of the month was approved and Becky is checking to update w/the Chamber & Marcey is checking to update w/the Journal.
- Heather bring information in on Iron Man event and results from speaking w/the Mayor on citywide Wi Fyi.
Advertising:
- April 2nd - deadline March 24th @ 12:00 noon! Ensure to send payments to the Downtown Association PO BOX 1016, Lake Stevens, WA 98258.
- There are 9 spots available - a little smaller. - Subway interested in wanting an AD? - Janet from the new hair salon interested in an AD?
- Discussed putting in an insert into the Chamber Newsletter. This cost is only $25 total to put insert into Chamber flier. Our group will be responsible for providing the 250 copies to put into the Chamber news letter. One person will be in charge of designing the insert and making copies. TOTAL COST for each member would be about $10 to cover copying costs, design cost, cost to the Chamber to include insert. Will discuss at the next meeting to decide if this is something the group wishes to participate in.
- Directional signs for services offered downtown on HWY 92: 14 spots available - Dr Fred mentioned that since they reinforced the signs w/wood there are no longer problems with signs getting damaged. Molly knows about more about this and will follow up during next meeting.
- Community Activities:
- Kiwanis Club is also hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, March 23rd
- Fishing starts the last Saturday April - opening week. The lake is stocked and ready! The had someone that caught a 10lbs weigh in at Greg’s Custom Fishing! Will be stocking lake 2 more times before summer.
- Iron Man, This event happens all over the world - qualifying dates coming up Heather is going to verify details
- Lions Club Derby in June
